Jailbreak for iPhone 4S, iPad 2 released
According to some recent Twitter posts by a few hackers, the iOS devices powered with Apple’s notably powerful A5 processor have now been ‘liberated’; with a jailbreak having been released for the two new A5-based devices – the iPhone 4S and the iPad 2.
It was in December that the "corona untether" jailbreak was released for the A4-based iOS devices; and, ever since, a “dream team” of hackers – comprising the likes of the iPhone Dev Team, Chronic Dev Team and pod2G – had been working out ways to jailbreak the A5-based devices.
The jailbreak, like all the other jailbreaks thus far, will allow the users of the iPhone 4S as well as the iPad 2 to customize their devices and to access the apps which are neither authorized by Apple nor available at the company’s App Store. However, on the downside, the jailbreak will also nullify the warranty of the devices.
The new jailbreak is being dubbed the ‘Corona A5’ jailbreak, and it happens to be the first “untethered” hack for the iPhone 4S and iPad 2; thereby meaning that users of these devices can boot up without first plugging their devices into a PC.
Going by the tweets making rounds about the jailbreak for the iPhone 4S and iPad 2, as of now, it is only for Mac OS X that the jailbreak tool – called Absinthe - is available. The Windows and Linux versions of the jailbreak will apparently be available soon!
